What happened at the 117th Binsted Fete

Phew! It was a hot one. As we approached Saturday 12th July 2025, we watched the temperature prediction rise and rise to a whopping 30 degrees! If you've ever been to Binsted Rec, you'll know that it has it's own weather system... but this year, even the infamous Binsted breeze did little to provide comfort from the heat.

Sadly, the high temperature meant that we had to make the tough decision to cancel our much loved Fun Family Dog Show. Thank you to all our amazing sponsors who supported us on this decision.

After scrabbling around, contacting everyone we knew, begging and borrowing, we were able to provide extra shade so that our visitors could keep as cool as possible during the day.

Despite the lower visitor rate of previous years, we were thrilled to welcome over 500 guests to our fabulous fete. It was wonderful to see families enjoy its old-fashioned charm, community spirit, and variety of entertainment. A particular highlight was the queue for the Welly Wanging where family competitiveness was in full swing!

A huge thank you to our event partners - FOBS, Holy Cross Church, The Binsted Inn, The Binsted Tennis & Croquet Club, Hawbridge Farm, Loos for Dos and Milk Club for stepping up, yet again, to help us make this year's event memorable.

Also to our amazing team of volunteers who braved the heat to step up, set up, run the stalls, welcome visitors, serve refreshments and help clear away. The Binsted Fete could NOT happen without you!

The Fate of Binsted Fete is in your hands!

For 2026, we’re looking for a brand new Committee to help keep the Fete alive and allow it to thrive into the future.

After 7 years of organising and running the fete and dog show, Matt, Alix, Sarah & Kim, feel that now is the time to step down and allow a new team to take over and breathe fresh life into this fabulous community event.

Since 2018, the current committee have worked hard to bring Binsted a fun, traditional Village Fete with fun activities for all of the family to enjoy. We are also so proud that we have been able to donate over £18,400 to local good causes and charities during our tenure.

The possible roles needed to run the future Binsted Fete are:

  • Chair

  • Marketing Coordinator

  • Stalls Coordinator

  • Sponsorship & Raffle Prize Secretary

  • Treasurer

  • Flower, Produce & Craft Coordinator

  • Dog Show Coordinator.

Further information about these suggested roles can be found on our About Us page HERE.

New committee members will benefit from support from the outgoing committee, but also there’s plenty of room to bring in your own fresh ideas! If no one steps forward, the Binsted Fete WILL NOT go ahead in 2026.
